During December 16-18, 2011, Bradley C Bailey and Bill Gantic headed into Dominguez Canyon, south of Cactus Park and the AMM Land. We started at the Gunnison River and hiked in about 4 miles. There was a little snow on the ground in the shade, but overall the weather was pretty nice, with chilly mornings. The scenery was amazing, and there were petroglyphs left by the ancients and Utes all over the area. We saw a couple desert bighorn sheep, some eagles, one rabbit, and some small bear tracks. There must've been beaver somewhere upstream as we collected beaver chewed driftwood for the fire. We did lots of hiking and exploring of the area and pondered when the last time moccasins were in a place like this. Bill and I packed lightly and rationed our food so we came back with nothing. Also in true RMO fashion we left the campsite better than we found it. The spirits were pleased.
