Rocky Mountain Outfit — American Mountain Men (AMM) party of Colorado

Last camp of the year dubbed the "Turn Around Camp". December 13th & 14th 2008 about 3/4 mile up East Castlerock Gulch near Buena Vista, CO. Present were Bradley C Bailey, Bill Gantic, Tom Karnuta, and Dave McGlochlin. Dave could only make it for the day but we were happy he showed. Bill and Tom showed up last and ended up following tracks up the wrong draw so had to turn around when they heard our shots. Camp was a wikiup under a fir tree all three of us fit in comfortably and a fire made it quite pleasant. Dinner we had a portable soup with venison and shared a bottle of wine. Caught up with each other and toasted brothers that couldn't make it. Snowed more at night. As Tom and Bill were starting to pack up Brad went out for a quick scout and came back to camp with a rabbit. Packing out was tough with the cold wind. When we left in the afternoon it was 9 degrees. All in all it was a good, but short camp and a great end to another year.
