Camp was called for the weekend of January 14 - 16 2011 to be on the AMM land in western Colorado. Being the wise mountaineers we are there was no need to be high in the mountains cold in over 3 feet of snow. Turnout for this camp was great, members attending were the following: Nathan Blanchard, Steve Chin, Bill Gantic, Tom Karnuta, Darko, Rick Lesquire and Scott Walker. Steve provided the party with pack animals to use to bring our gear the four miles into the camp. Scott decided to pack in his camp using a tumpline on his head, what a trooper, he made the whole trip in. The weather was fine for a mid winter camp, warming up into the 40's during the day and low 20's at night. On the hike in what little snow there was quickly turned into slick mud. Camp was struck back under the same spot Brad and Bill had used early this past fall, for it was one of the only spots free of snow and mud. The party set into motion with all needed camp chores, unloading the animals, clearing the ground, gathering firewood, and starting a fire to get the kettles going. Over the weekend many great activities took place such as scouts, shooting, story telling, and shared knowledge. Sign language and shaving colleges were held. Tom brought along his new saddle so Bill and Steve took it out for some test rides. Of course good vittles were eaten, pipes were smoked, coffee and whiskey were drank and good times had by all.
