In April Bradley C Bailey headed up to almost 10,000' on the north western side of the Buffalo Peaks Wilderness to live off the land for 3 days solo. Day 1 seen lots of turkey sign but nothing. Winter is still here this high up and most all of the water is frozen pretty good. Not much fresh beaver sign, water seems low in most ponds. Day 2: Hiked 1/2 mi downstream to find some open water and fish. Caught 4 cutthroats, but one flopped back in the water. For supper cooked the fish, then boiled down the heads, bones, skin, and eggs into a broth. Renewed energy and spirits. Day 3: walked around but not much. Seen rabbit and lots of squirels, but they are not in season. These experiences always are humbling.
