June 28th - July 2nd, 2012: Mike Katona, John Paepeghem (Mikes guest) Bill Bailey, Lloyd Britton (Bills guest), Jim Sebastian, Bradley C Bailey, 6 mules, and 2 horses. We did a 3 day ride into AMM Nationals on Sawmill Creek in Montana. We started in Idaho at Modoc Creek and followed the Continental Divide Trail. Riding the ridges of the CDT was a windy experience. The first night we camped in East Fork of Big Beaver Creek, and the second night we made camp near Shineberger Creek. Saw a moose, deer, and grouse on the trail. In our excitement to get on the trail we forgot to pack along the meat, so we subsisted on dry goods and boiled jerk until we made it to rendezvous, only to find out that a fireban had been put in effect and it was a cold camp. Our group was the first to ride into rendezvous. After staying at Nationals for a day and a half it was time to start the long journey back.
